Is it finally spring???

I know its been a month since my last post but life has been  very up and down. Still dealing with health issues and because of a mailing mishap I haven't had health insurance for 3 weeks now. So I haven't been able to get a few of my meds that have run out cause I can't pay full price for them. Still looking for work as well and that is still an ongoing major stressful situation for me.

My youngest turned 13 at the end of March. Officially a teenager now. More like 13 going on 30. Love her to pieces but she is responsible for most of my (colored) gray hair. She is off to see her dad for the rest of her spring break so at least I get a bit of breathing room. I will miss her after a few days, I always do.
My oldest is here as well for break so I will enjoy some one on one time with her. She turns 18 in May and then graduates in June. Then off to college. Where did the time go?? I swear it was just yesterday she was toddling around the house.

I have been doing some stitching and have some finishes to show for it. Just need to take some pictures so I can post them but the days have been cloudy lately and my house tends to be dark. Hopefully by weeks end I can get them done.

I'm sure everyone is upset as much as I am about the bombings in Boston. I won't say much here since it is everywhere on the web anyway, just that my thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this senseless tragedy. What has this world come to???
It might be cloudy and rainy here today, but the robin's are telling me that spring is here finally. I was so sick of winter and I can't wait till I can get outside and get some flowers going. I hope wherever you are that the sun is shining and all the trees and flowers are blooming.
Till next time, stay happy and healthy.

Where is March Going??

Yes, I am still alive..
I realized how long it had been since I posted anything so I figured I would do a quick one.
I have been busy trying to find work, still, and dealing with yet another staph infection, this time in my leg of all places.
I also have been working on my Stitched With Love exchange piece, and it has given me nothing but issues sadly. Hopefully the person I am doing it for will like it. I haven't started the March haunted house yet but I am hoping to get it done in time, its a simple design. It was a freebie I found online.
My girls have kept me busy, the youngest is turning 13 at the end of the month. Where did the time go?? My oldest graduates in 3 months. And turns 18 in May. I feel old...
I'm also driving myself insane redoing my craft area in the spare room. It currently looks like a tornado hit it. I'm hoping when I'm done it will be more organized and I will have better space to work in. Keep your fingers crossed!
No pics to post yet but hopefully I can next post. Which will be sooner rather than later, promise.
Stay warm, stay well, and if you don't hear from me in a week, please send a rescue party to dig me out from the rubble in my craft room...oh, and Happy St. Patricks Day all :)

Stitchy Fingers..

Wow, two posts in just as many days- there must be something wrong with me....haha.

Just wanted to do a quick post to show what I've been working on. I've had to force myself to do the housework (blech) cause all I seem to want to do is curl up with a comfy blanket and stitch. Not a horrible thing but the darn house brownies are on strike and the laundry won't do itself.

This is my progress so far on my Halloween SAL ornie. I know it won't take long to finish but I haven't decided how I want to finish finish it. Need to look thru my craft junk supplies to see what I have for ribbon, etc. Sorry about the lighting- the fabric is actually a much brighter yellow.

The other piece I have been working on is a Valentine one and I can't remember where I printed this out from, but I know its a blog I like to visit. Instead of using regular floss I decided to use some DMC flower thread that I have had hoarded stashed away for years. They don't make it anymore and I always wanted to use it. I'm doing this on some linen I found in my stash but don't know the count since it wasn't in a package but a plastic bag with other odds and ends. I'm not the most organized of crafters, lol.
Not the best photographer apparently either :P Oh well, I try.
Hope everyone is having a good week and staying warm. I'm off to look for something to stitch for an exchange. This should be fun...send a search party if I don't blog in a few days...

Super Bowl Sunday Stitching

Yes, I still live...

Been awhile since I posted. Having a hard time on my new meds- this week was especially hard. This med seems to work too well, my blood sugars keep dropping too low, too much, and trying to stitch while your hands are shaking terribly doesn't work! Calling the doctor Monday- oh joy :P

I managed to kit up some projects finally and I plan on working on them everyday this month. I want to see if I can keep motivated on making some finishing progress. I will try to post my progress as well so people can see what I am up to.

Don't have cable anymore so today will be spent sitting and rocking in my Gram's wicker rocker and stitching. Maybe a few movies involved too. Wish I could see the commercials but I know they will end up on Youtube so I can see them then. After the week I had the quiet time will be nice. My youngest is on the xbox in the living room and seems content. I think something easy for dinner and all will be happy.

I bought this basket to use in the kitchen but not even 2 min. on the counter and Taz claimed it as his own. He now curls up in it all the time to snooze. I would be irritated with him but he looks too darn cute!

Is it spring yet?? I am so tired of being cold and stitching with fingerless gloves isn't easy, but my darn hands get so frozen...brrrrrr. I am working on my next ornie for the Halloween SAL. This months theme is black cats. Also, I joined the Stitched With Love exchange and am looking forward to doing that. Its my first one ever and it will be nice to make some new friends :)

Well, off to get a cup of tea and curl back up in my nest to stitch. Till next rant blog..

Oh, what a week..

Thought I would just do a quick update-y thing.
This week has been a long one- the youngest has been sick and home the past few days. I've been trying to adjust to my new med with crappy results so far. Trying to plan an eating schedule so my blood sugar doesn't suddenly drastically drop is a pain! Just ask my daughter who spooned peanut butter into my mouth cause I was shaking so bad! Snuck up on me that time. Didn't help she was giggling at the time either...

I joined Lainey's Halloween Ornament SAL. This is what I've been working on- still deciding on how to do the finish. Halloween is one of my favorite seasons so I couldn't pass up making ornies for my little spooky tree. Here is a link to join if interested.

Well, the housework won't do itself- darn house brownies must be on strike again. Till next time, stay warm, stay healthy, and happy stitching :)

Mornings...

...are for the birds! I have never been a morning person. I am one of those people that function best later in the day. Of course those late hours wreak havoc with my internal clock. I told myself on New Years eve that one thing I would do for 2013 is better manage my mornings and sleep.

Yeah, still working on that. The past week has seen me heading to bed at 3am most nights. Does not make for a cheerful morning. On the upside I have managed to redo an old sewing basket I was given for xmas, organize some small projects to work on, and caught up on episodes of one of my favorite shows.

I need to get ready for the first doctors appointment of 2013. Not looking forward to it but being diabetic, its   a necessary evil. Plus, haven't been feeling right and hope I'm not gearing up for another infection and round of antibiotics. Not the best start to a new year huh?

Here are pics of the ornaments I made for my daughters for xmas. I stitched them from pictures and not actual charts. I think they came out pretty good for winging it. The girls really liked them as well.

Well, off to be poked and prodded. I really just want to curl up with some tea and some stitching. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week. Till next rant, lol...
