Hello 2013

Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I will post again in 2013 with some pics of the ornaments I made for my girls and mom. Sadly, I am ringing in the new year sick with ginger ale as my bubbly. Oh well, new year, new start, I hope. Everyone enjoy your night and stay safe!

Christmas Blues...

I know its been awhile since I posted, but it seems that this season has been a very hard one for me. And the tragedy of Newtown, Conn yesterday has just made it that much harder. My heart goes out to the families that have been affected by this evil madness.

I have been out of work since May and so far haven't had much luck in finding a job. It has become so overwhelming and I can't even buy xmas gifts. I am thankful for what I do have and blessed with caring friends and family. That keeps me going even when all I want to do is curl up into a ball and cry. I'm trying to keep the spirit and meaning of Christmas centered in my heart but some days it is sooo hard.

The 20th will be 3 years since my maternal grandmother passed away and I still grieve at times. She was a rock to me and helped raise me and I miss her everyday. I know she watches over me but it will never be the same.

On a happier note, which was much needed, believe me, a very dear old friend and his wife welcomed a beautiful baby boy into this world yesterday. Seeing all the pictures the proud daddy keeps posting has been keeping me smiling despite my heavy heart. All it takes is a wonderful moment like this to help give some hope.

Must get back to work on some stitching for gifts- at least that I can do! Guess its a good thing to have a large stash from years gone by to work with! Yes, I am a crafting packrat and proud of it, lol! Hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas season with their families, and don't forget to give extra hugs to your little ones. Mine aren't so little anymore but that won't stop me from hugging them to pieces! Till next time...
Sorry, but Grumpy Cat makes me giggle...

The Day Before The Turkey

So, still learning how to do this blog thingie. Went and picked up my oldest last night so I have both my girls for the holiday. My uncle is coming to town and since it's easier, we are eating out at a restaurant. The hoilidays haven't been the same since my Gram passed away 3 years ago( this Dec. 20th). She always did the cooking and we went to the farm for Thanksgiving. We all miss her and the food. I miss her everyday.

Started working on some xmas ornies for gifts. I want to make a chart of Jack Skellington for my oldest, I haven't found a pattern online so I guess its up to me. Of course if anyone has a website or link to share that would be very appreciated. I am also doing a Minnie mouse for my youngest. Money is very tight since I am unemployed at the moment. Makes this a stressful time of year, but at least I have my cross stitch and other crafts to help with that!

Need to make a run to the store for a few things, yes, i must be nuts, to do it the day befoere Thanksgiving, but these girls tend to eat me out of house and home sometimes! Wishing all a wonderful Thanksgiving with their family and friends!
Maybe I will have a few pics to share next post of my projects....maybe...

Snow Flurries and Fleece Pants

Well, here I am posting my first blog on a cold and snowy(kinda) night. It's been lightly snowing for the past few hours and boy is it cold! I need to find my fingerless gloves to keep my hands warm when I stitch on my many projects. My cats are all curled up with their paws over their noses. So cute. My daughter and I have been sick for the past week and she's just getting over it. I, unfortunately have a ways to go. Blah. Sometimes I really hate being diabetic. I have had so many infections and nothing seems to keep them from coming back. Very frustrating. At least I can still do my cross stitch and other crafts, they help to keep me sane. Well, as sane as a single mom with a house full of furbabies, a pre-teen, and occassionally a teenager can be! Need  to go curl up under some warm blankies and get some sleep. I have to drive to NH to get my oldest tomoorrow for the weekend. She lives with her dad in Maine and graduates from high school in June 2013. In the process of getting her license, then maybe mom can take a break while she drives herself to Vermont...well, I can hope anyway!
Stay warm everyone and my thoughts and prayers are with all who were hit by Sandy, on this very cold, snowy night.
